This cloud formation was slowly moving across the plains, sucking up energy and trying to get organized. Slowly it began having lightning bursts. A little later it would be dropping large hail and producing intense cloud to ground lightning displays.

Today looks like it will be another very dramatic day across the Central States. I'm hoping nothing like what happened in Joplin Missouri a day ago will repeat itself in Oklahoma and Kansas, where it looks most likely where the action is going to fire up. I lived near Joplin and was heartbroken to see the town leveled, and unrecognizable. My thoughts are with the many who have lost homes and loved ones.
